Campaign Update

It has been my privilege and honor to serve you as a City Council Member for the past four years. We have had many successes and faced many challenges. Through diligence and discipline we are weathering the State funding cuts with solid financial rserves. Under my leadership we extended our Chico library hours. I have been instrumental in adding new police department positions. I have ensured our returning veterans are properly honored by the Council and I chair the committee to establish a veterans' memorial in Plaza Park. I have also been at the forefront of street repairs, Humane Society issues and cooperative planning with the County. While we have accomplished much, there is much that remains to be done. Therefore, I am seeking reelection. I am asking for your support and your vote on November 2nd.

Proven Community Leadership

During my time on the City Council we developed a prudent reserve and created an emergency reserve account. This has allowed us to provide resources for community organizations that add to the quality experience of living in Chico. During these times of budget crisis in Sacramento we have been able to fund increased library hours, the Chico Nature Center, the Chico Museum and the Humane Society, while maintaining our outstanding level of police and fire protection.

This election is not just about who will be elected; in fact, it is a referendum on the direction our community wishes to chart for the future. By casting your vote for Larry Wahl you are supporting:

  • Strong, principled Community Leadership
  • Financially disciplined city government
  • A commitment to increased police and fire protection
  • Extended library hours
  • Better neighborhood parks and recreation facilities
  • Improving roads and streets
  • Increasing senior housing availability

A Chicoan since 1945, I graduated from Chico HIgh School and CSU Chico. I served in the US Navy as a pilot and flew in combat over Vietnam. My wife, Mary, and I are homeowners and business owners. I served on the Planning Commission and was elected to the City Council in November, 2000.

I would be honored to serve as your representative for another term on the Chico City Council.
